Apple will begin shipping their much anticipated new operating system, Snow Leopard on Friday, Aug. 28.
This newest version of their popular OS X operating system will feature faster start up and shutdown times as well as a smaller footprint (this means you will gain 7 GB of harddrive space back from the current version of OS X). Snow Leopard is also bringing some new features to the table, including 64-bit support, Grand Central Dispatch’s multicore support, and OpenGL, all of which should provide better performance for applications. For those who use their Macs in a Windows office environment, the full built-in support for Microsoft Exchange will be a nice addition. Other features will be hi-resolution iChat, Improved Expose’ and Stacks, Quicktime X and an improved Universal Access for the vision-impaired. The upgrade price will be $29.
