A press release from Apple this morning says the company “sold its one millionth iPad on Friday, just 28 days after its introduction on April 3.” For Apple stockholders… that equates to roughly $200 million in gross profit. Cliff note translation: iPad kicks out $7.14 million per day in Apple gross profits! OMG!
But wait… add this to the more than 12 million copies of Apps downloaded to the iPad. Before you know it > iPad will exceed the GNP of smaller developing nations!
The New York Times comments, “The news puts new context on last week’s reports that Microsoft and HP have both canceled tablet computer projects they had in the works. Did they decide that there’s no market for a tablet, or did they more likely decide that their own tablets would not do well against the iPad?”

Microsoft and HP might not be able to do well against the iPad in sales but I’d like to see how they would match up in availability and delivery.
I need to blow off electrical engineering and look more closely at this computer stuff. $7 million gross profit each day – kicks a$$! Don’t know many EE firms making that kind of margin.
